Luxury Chicks by Peter Lippmann for Marie Claire

Chickens with diamonds.

From Peter Lippmann, who photographed fancy shoes while reenacting famous paintings from art history, here’s something even less hefty and a bit more fluffy, or feathery, if you will. Spotted by Trendland, here are some Luxury Chicks shot for Marie Claire. In the editorial, chickens and roosters don haute bijoux from Cartier, Buccellati, Van Cleef & Arpels, and others. Sparkly. Seeing these animals puff out their chests, pose in their fiercely ruffled head feathers, and stand there, beaks half-open dangling gems… seems like commentary on the shallowness of a capitalist fashion world that relies on soulless human mannequins peddling shiny things. OK, maybe that was too heavy an analysis.

Shwood Select 2012 Lookbook video by Joe Stevens

I just looove wooden sunglasses. Seriously, wood grain makes every pair unique, and it’s so light… I just found this super brand, Shwood, that is developing awesome wood sunglasses models, via this even more awesome video, using stereoscopy.

Portland-based wooden sunglasses company Shwood have released a 2012 collection video lookbook which employs a 3D technique called stereoscopy. So that you don’t need a pair of 3D glasses, they’ve also used the so-called “Wiggle Stereoscopy” technique, which alternates between the left and right images of the stereogram to give us a sense of being in the scene. The collection is now available direct from Shwood.

The Weather Yeasterday by Troika

London design studio Troika have been poking fun at the British obsession with the weather with their lighting installation in an east London park. The LED lights on the five-metre-high installation change throughout the day to depict conditions from the same time the previous day, so passers-by can see whether the weather is better or worse.
